Samburu Sopa Lodge sits above the Ewaso Nyiro River on the edge of Samburu National Reserve, in the drier, wilder landscape north of the equator. Cottages are set along the riverbank among doum palms, with a pool and terrace overlooking the water where elephant and other game come down to drink. A relaxed, low-key base for exploring a reserve most visitors never make it to.
