Deposit Policy

This page explains how much deposit is required to confirm a safari with The Big Five Safaris, and when it is due. It forms part of our full Terms & Conditions.

How Much Deposit Is Required

A deposit of 30% of your total trip cost secures your booking once you have approved your final itinerary and invoice. Nothing is charged before that point.

When the Deposit Is Due

The deposit is due within 7 days of written confirmation. Your booking is provisional until it clears: lodges and camps are held but not guaranteed until then.

When the Balance Is Due

The remaining 70% is due 60 days before your safari begins. If you book within 60 days of your travel date, full payment is required at the time of booking.

Ways to Pay

You can pay online when you book, straight from any safari page on our website. Choose to pay a 30% deposit or the full amount by Visa, Mastercard, American Express or another major card. Online payments are processed securely by Jenga, the payment service of Equity Bank, and we never see or store your card details. Jenga adds a card processing fee of about 3%, which is shown before you confirm.

If you pay a deposit online, we email you a secure link to pay the balance when it is due. All online prices are in US dollars.

You can also pay by bank transfer. We confirm the bank details on your invoice. If you need help with payment, contact us at info@thebigfivesafari.com or on +254 701 885 050.

Is the Deposit Refundable?

The deposit is non-refundable, except where we are the ones cancelling your trip. See our Cancellation Policy for what happens if you need to cancel, and our Refund Policy for how refunds are processed.
