A safari built around the northern Serengeti and the Mara River crossings, which fall between roughly July and October. Two nights in the north place you within reach of the crossing points, with Tarangire and the Ngorongoro Crater completing the circuit.
The Route
Tarangire
Depart Arusha and drive to Tarangire National Park for an afternoon game drive along the river, where elephant, buffalo and zebra concentrate through the dry season.
Serengeti
Continue across the highlands into the Serengeti, with game viewing as you cross the central plains. The afternoon is spent in the Seronera area, reliable for lion and leopard throughout the year.
Serengeti
Travel north through the Serengeti towards the Mara River, following the herds as they move. Where the crossings are active, the day is spent at the river waiting for the wildebeest to commit.

A second day in the north, given entirely to the migration. Crossings are unpredictable and cannot be guaranteed, but the concentration of animals and predators along the river through these months is extraordinary in itself.
Ngorongoro
Leave the Serengeti and descend into the Ngorongoro Crater for a final game drive, before climbing out and returning to Arusha in the evening.
