A compact luxury circuit taking in three of northern Tanzania’s finest wildlife areas in four days. The pace is brisk but the lodges are unhurried, and the route covers the elephant country of Tarangire, the Serengeti plains and the Ngorongoro Crater.
The Route
Tarangire
Leave Arusha after breakfast and drive south-west to Tarangire National Park, arriving for lunch. The afternoon game drive follows the river valley, where the park's elephant herds gather beneath the baobabs.
Serengeti
Travel on across the Ngorongoro highlands and down onto the Serengeti, with the plains opening out as you enter the park. An afternoon drive in the central Serengeti follows.
Serengeti
A full day in the park, with morning and late afternoon drives divided by a rest through the heat. Your guide will work the Seronera valley and the kopjes, which lion favour as vantage points.
Ngorongoro
Depart the Serengeti and descend into the Ngorongoro Crater for a half day on the crater floor, with its rhino, lion and elephant, before returning to Arusha.
